Thread count is a measure of quality and has become an  important and much discussed topic in today’s market. However there is sometimes confusion over what this term actually means.

Thread count is defined as a measure of coarseness or fineness of fabric (ie how closely woven the fabric is) .It is measured by counting both the length (warp) and width (weft) threads per square inch.

Confusion sometimes  occurs with sheets with a high thread count, this measurement may be over 10 square centimetres and not per square inch. So a thread count of 500 may actually be only 125. Therefore the sheets may be softer due to thinner weave but may not last as long.

Good quality sheeting with a thread count of 200 or above is considered percale.

The Linen Collection Bed Linen has a thread count of 300 per square inch ,making our sheets not only good quality, but also soft  to touch and durable. The close weave of the cotton ensures they do not “pill”. and also ensures they shrink less.

Our cotton nighties are made from a finer thread count for a luxurious nights sleep.

Our nightwear, nighties and robes are pure silk therefore beautifully soft and breathable.

Designed for comfort they are light, soft, easy care, quick drying and compact down to a small item therefore ideal for travelling.

Linen is made from the fibres of the flax plant, and its manufacture is labour intensive.

The collective term linen is still often used generically to describe a class of woven bed, bath, kitchen and table textiles.

Linen is today produced in relatively small quantities,it has a long fibre length relative to cotton and other natural fibres.

Linen is a very durable, strong fabric, highly absorbent and is relatively easy to take care of since it resists dirt and stains, has no lint or pilling tendency and can be drycleaned, machine washed or steamed.

Our Linen Hand Towels have been bleached to white and then hand embroidered to perfection.
